Weekend in Zagreb can be full of activities and events if you want. For me, perfect weekend means some peace and quiet but also something happening. So, in those terms, my last weekend was perfect. On Saturday we went for a hike to mountain close to Zagreb center, Medvednica. Mountain is not that high, but enough for me. 1035 meters. Weather wasn't that good, it was raining and very slippery and muddy, but definetely worth the walk. When we manage to reach the top, there was some really nice restaurant that served us lunch. And when the owner of the bar realized that we were from other country, rakia came on the table..And for me, even I am from Finland and people know we like to drink, three shots of that honey rakia (or Lady rakia like some people call it) was totally enough. The owner and other staff were just so nice that I did not want to be unpolite and say no for drinks. After those and conversations of Kiira Korpi (Finnish ice skater), Finnish customs and blond hair, we were finally on our way back down.
On Sunday we went to explore city a little bit. We found some really nice small pubs from upper town and one of the best was definitely Tolkien's House. All the drinks were named after The Lord of The Rings and they had some interesting beers and ciders as well.
After a walking around, we went to check out one of the interesting museums I have ever been, Museum of Broken Relationships. Totally worth of a visit. It makes you feel some how sad, but it is also very interesting to see that. Purpose of the museum is that people from all over the world can send some items that reminds them of their ended relationships and then you can read the stories behind them.
So very nice weekend at total, looking forward the next ones to come.
