When I was saying Merry Christmas over two weeks ago, it wasn't my idea to write next time only today. It´s been too long, I know. The holidays went pass me so fast, that I barely realized that it was New Year's Eve. Well anyhow, I might just tell you some stuff I`ve been doing.
Christmas was quite different than home. For starters, Croatian celebrate it on a "wrong" day :D For me, Christmas is 24th, here you celebrate on 25th. So, on the 24th we were still at the office, although not that hard working. Secret Santa visited at the office and everyone got a present and lot of cakes and cookies.
In the evening had international Christmas dinner with the roommates and then went out. Apparently that is the custom here and I was surprised how much people there were out in bars and restaurants.
At the New Years, I had a pleasure to attend to two parties before midnight. At midnight, me and my other volunteer friends went to the main square of Zagreb to see the fireworks. And of course there was some sparkling wine included :)
Croatia is great place to be and see new things. I have totally fallen love with Medvenica, the mountain near Zagreb. My co-worker took me there again but with a different route and OH MY GOD how beautiful it was when we got to the top. And there´s a castle called Medvedgrad, so it was nice to circle around in there as well.
As a person, I am very available to injuries, bruises and happenings that might cause something to my health. Luckily nothing serious normally happens but it´s quite normal for me to have bruises in my legs since I like to hit walls or chairs or something every once in a while. So when we were coming down from the mountain, I was blaablaablaaing (=talking nonsense) to my co-worker and didn't watch where I was going, so I ended up my face on the ground and knees against the rocky mountain. And this when going down. Luckily again, nothing broke but I've had a pleasure to nurse both of my knees since the bruises are quite huge and hurting. :D
I know, this all sounds like awesome and you´re all really jealous of me and all the time thinking "I wish I was this girl and could spend 6 months of my life like her". But there´s a twist. At least in my case.
So after a very heavy-eating, heavy-drinking and quite a lot of partying, my body said stop and forced me to bed for several days. I understood my body's warning when fever came that now I have to rest a little bit, but it disagreed again. So I got some allergic reaction to SOMETHING. (so basically now when I eat something, I can get another reaction whenever.. NICE!)
When my lips started to swell, I decide that I have to get over my fear of hospitals and go see how Croatian health care is working. Lucky me, it was quite good. I got taken care immediately, they took some blood and checked my heart. So very throughout.. Then I got some shots and they let me go home. And the most important thing, the doctor was cute ;)
This is how I started my new year, hope you guys had it better haha. Now it's just moving forward and focusing on something else than hospitals.
Soon more stories about my trips around Croatia.
